About NLA (National Language Authority)

The Muqtadira Qaumi Zaban (National Language Authority) was established in 1979 by the Government of Pakistan in furtherance of the objectives in Article 251 enunciated(1) of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973, to formulate and present recommendations to the Government for the formal adoption of Urdu, the national language, as the official language, and to develop linkages for cooperation and collaboration with various academic, research, and educational institutions.
